Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) ensures that disaster survivors in Sumatra can access telecommunications services during their transition from evacuation centers to temporary and permanent shelters.
Director General of Digital Infrastructure Kemkomdigi Wayan Toni Supriyanto informed ANTARA on Sunday that the government is mapping locations for temporary shelters (huntara) and permanent residences (huntap) for disaster survivors, along with the availability of telecommunication services.
According to him, Kemkomdigi is coordinating with mobile service operators to meet the telecommunication needs in the new settlements for disaster survivors in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
“We are coordinating with cellular operators to facilitate the provision of telecommunication services in these new settlement areas,” he stated.
Kemkomdigi is also collaborating with telecommunications providers to restore digital infrastructure in areas affected by the disaster.
Wayan confirmed that telecommunications services in the disaster-affected areas of Sumatra have fully recovered as of Sunday (22/3).
“Telecommunications services in the affected regions have completely returned to the pre-disaster conditions,” he said.
