Jakarta (ANTARA) – Microsoft, in collaboration with Alunjiva Indonesia through the EQUAL program, has reached 112,058 participants in the second batch as of April 30, 2026, in an effort to strengthen the inclusive artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Indonesia.

According to a statement received in Jakarta on Monday, this achievement includes 66,574 participants with disabilities and 45,484 women and youth who are enhancing their AI skills across various regions in Indonesia.

“Through partnerships with organizations like Alunjiva, we promote the use of technologies such as Microsoft Copilot to assist more people, including women, youth, and individuals with disabilities, in developing new skills, increasing productivity, and actively participating in the digital economy,” said Microsoft Indonesia Managing Director Dharma Simorangkir.

The EQUAL program is part of the elevAIte Indonesia initiative launched in 2024 by Microsoft in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to equip one million Indonesian talents with relevant AI skills for digital transformation.

The program has been developed through cross-sector collaboration involving civil society organizations, disability communities, educational institutions, local governments, and community facilitators to broaden access to inclusive and sustainable AI literacy.

Alunjiva Indonesia, as a partner in this initiative, is encouraging the development of a more accessible AI learning ecosystem by providing disability-friendly educational materials, engaging facilitators with disabilities, and strengthening community-based learning spaces.

In addition to focusing on training, the EQUAL program also fosters the creation of long-term collaboration and learning networks among communities, facilitators, educational institutions, and local partners.

This approach is expected to strengthen the sustainability of the inclusive AI ecosystem in Indonesia while opening more collaboration opportunities for digital capacity development in the future.

Alunjiva Indonesia’s founder, Nicky Clara, emphasized that a community-based approach is a key factor in building an inclusive and sustainable AI learning ecosystem.

“For many vulnerable groups and individuals with disabilities, access to technology remains a challenge. Therefore, we believe that AI literacy should be constructed using an inclusive, easily understandable approach that aligns with daily community needs,” she stated.

Through the EQUAL program, they aim to ensure that AI is not only regarded as a future technology but also as an empowering tool that can open access, enhance capacity, and create new opportunities for all.

The Deputy Chair of MPR RI, Lestari Moerdijat, noted that mastering AI can serve as a bridge to expand economic opportunities, including for MSME actors and individuals with disabilities.

“In the digital era, inclusivity is not just an option; it’s a necessity,” she remarked.

Sustainable digital transformation must ensure that women, youth, and individuals with disabilities have equal opportunities to learn, grow, and be part of Indonesia’s digital future.

From the first batch until June 30, 2025, the EQUAL program has reached 211,377 participants across various regions in Indonesia.

In closing the EQUAL program series, the EQUAL Convening Summit titled “Celebrating the Journey, Building an Inclusive AI Future” is being held today at the National Disability Commission Building in Jakarta, involving the government, private sector, communities, academics, and disability organizations.

This event is attended by more than 350 participants with disabilities from the Jabodetabek region and features discussions on inclusive AI regulations in Indonesia.
