Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Pokemon Company (TPC) optimistically anticipates the growth of Pokemon enthusiasts in Indonesia with the launch of various initiatives, including Poke Wayang and the event Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey.

“While we’re not directly impacting the business realm, we genuinely hope that the fanbase in Indonesia continues to expand significantly,” said Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The Pokemon Company, Takato Utsunomiya, during a conversation with ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday (14/9).

He also revealed that Indonesia ranks as the top viewer on the Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel, surpassing India.

“We have a channel on YouTube called Pokémon Kids TV, and it turns out that the view count or the number of plays in Indonesia has reached the number one spot globally, beating India,” he added.

Focusing on the Indonesian market, he noted that Indonesia is a key market of consideration, with at least ten Indonesian employees working at The Pokemon Company.

“They don’t solely engage in tasks related to Indonesia, but are also involved in game development and various other content-related roles from Pokemon. We consistently seek insights from our colleagues in Indonesia,” he further explained.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Pokemon collaborates with Indonesia, showcasing its rich culture through Wayang by introducing “Poké Wayang,” which carries moral lessons for children in Indonesia.

Through the adventures of Pikachu and other Pokémon facing challenges, TPC aims to instill the values of teamwork and mutual support among close friends and family.

To enhance the atmosphere, iconic music from the Pokémon video game series has been rearranged with gamelan melodies, creating a joyful and unique ambiance within the “Poké Wayang” world.

The premier performance of this collaboration is scheduled to take place at the WCCE (World Conference on Creative Economy) on October 22, 2026, with plans for a “Poké Wayang” tour to various elementary schools throughout Indonesia.

Additionally, TPC will introduce several programs including support for the Indonesian language for the “Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket,” the organization of “Pokémon RUN 30,” and the hosting of the “Pikachu’s Indonesia Journey” event, which will coincide with the “Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 Experience Jakarta” to engage with Indonesian fans.
